Corning RPMI 1640 Medium — the standard growth medium for lymphocytes, hybridomas, and suspension cell cultures. Formulated with L-glutamine and phenol red pH indicator. Each pack contains six 500mL bottles.
RPMI 1640 was originally developed at Roswell Park Memorial Institute for culturing human leukocytes. It is now one of the most widely used media in cell biology, supporting growth of a broad range of mammalian cell lines including T cells, B cells, NK cells, macrophages, and many tumor cell lines. Typically supplemented with 10% FBS and 1% Penicillin-Streptomycin.

Sterility: Sterile-filtered through 0.1µm membranes and tested for bacterial and fungal contamination
Endotoxin: Tested to ensure low endotoxin levels suitable for cell culture applications
pH: Adjusted to physiological range (7.2–7.4) and verified prior to release
Osmolality: Within specification for mammalian cell culture requirements
Lot Traceability: Full lot documentation from manufacture through delivery
Temperature: Store per label instructions — PBS and HBSS at 15–25°C (room temperature), RPMI 1640 at 2–8°C (refrigerated)
Light Sensitivity: Protect media containing phenol red from prolonged light exposure
Shelf Life: Refer to lot-specific expiration date on the bottle label
Opened Containers: Use promptly after opening. Aseptic technique required to prevent contamination
Supplements: Add serum, antibiotics, or growth factors as needed for your specific cell line protocol
Cell Washing: PBS is the standard rinse solution for removing serum and trypsin residues during passaging
Cell Culture: RPMI 1640 supports growth of lymphocytes, hybridomas, and suspension cell lines
Balanced Salt Solutions: HBSS maintains physiological pH and osmolality during short-term cell handling, rinsing, and transport
Reagent Preparation: PBS serves as a base diluent for antibodies, enzymes, and staining solutions
Tissue Processing: Used in histology, immunohistochemistry, and tissue dissociation protocols
