Six questions on FBS pricing
Why does FBS pricing vary so much between origins?
Geographic origin sets the base price. USDA-Approved origin is the value tier. US Origin carries a domestic-sourcing premium for FDA-regulated work and sponsor mandates. Australian and New Zealand origin carry a premium for BSE-free, geographically isolated sourcing.
What is the difference between Research and Advance grade pricing?
Both grades pass the same baseline QC: triple 0.1 micron filtration, the 9CFR virus panel, and endotoxin and mycoplasma screening. Advance grade adds deeper lot selection, with endotoxin under 5 EU/mL and routinely below 1, for reproducibility-critical work, at a modest step up over Research grade.
How much does heat inactivation cost?
Heat inactivation is a $10 add-on per bottle, applied to the same lot with the same Certificate of Analysis. It deactivates complement proteins at 56 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. Order it only when your protocol requires complement-free serum.
Do you offer volume or institutional pricing?

Lot reservation lets you hold a single qualified lot for a multi-year project, so the serum stays consistent across the work. Request a free 50 mL sample to qualify a lot in your own culture system first.
