How to choose

How to choose a chemical-resistant glove

Three of the four lines are 15 mil nitrile and differ mainly in the liner; the fourth is a PVC glove for cold and wet work. The choice is the barrier material, the liner, and how long you wear the glove.

1

Barrier material

Nitrile covers a broad range of laboratory solvents, acids, and bases. The SHOWA 620 uses double-dipped PVC instead, which is fully waterproof and rated to minus 20 degrees Celsius for cold work.

2

Liner and wear time

Unlined gloves like the SHOWA 727 give the most tactile feedback for precision work. Flock-lined gloves like the 732 and 709B absorb moisture and stay comfortable through long procedures.

3

Grip

The SHOWA 709B adds PyraGrip fluid-channeling for secure handling in wet and oily conditions. The 727 and 732 use an embossed grip pattern; the 620 PVC is textured for wet grip.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Which chemical-resistant glove should I choose?

For broad solvent, acid, and base handling, the 15 mil nitrile gloves are the default: the SHOWA 727 unlined for tactile feedback, the 732 flock-lined for all-day comfort, and the 709B for wet grip. For cold and wet work, the SHOWA 620 double-dipped PVC is waterproof and rated to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

What is the difference between lined and unlined gloves?

An unlined glove like the SHOWA 727 gives the most tactile feedback and a bisque interior for easy donning. A flock-lined glove like the 732 or 709B absorbs moisture and stays comfortable through long procedures, at a small cost in tactile sensitivity.

Are these gloves reusable?

Yes. All four SHOWA chemical-resistant lines are reusable and sold by the case, twelve pairs to a case.

Which glove works for cold or wet conditions?

The SHOWA 620 double-dipped PVC glove. It is fully waterproof, has a seamless cotton liner, and is cold-rated to minus 20 degrees Celsius, which suits cold storage handling and wet laboratory work.
