How to choose

Start with your culture mode

Your culture mode decides most of the vessel choice. Identify the culture mode first, then narrow by format and scale.

1

Adherent

Cells grow attached to a surface. Use tissue-culture treated flasks, dishes, and plates, including glass-bottom plates for imaging and low-evaporation formats for long runs.

2

Suspension

Cells grow free-floating. Use baffled and standard Erlenmeyer shake flasks and mini bioreactor tubes, with non-treated surfaces where attachment is not wanted.

3

3D and co-culture

Cells grow in a matrix or across a membrane. Use GelNest basement membrane matrix for 3D and organoid work and Transwell inserts for co-culture, migration, and barrier models.

Cell culture supplies by category

The cell culture collection spans six categories. Match the category to the stage of your workflow, then choose format and size on the product page.

CategoryWhat it coversUse it for

For media supplementation, pair these supplies with Fetal Bovine Serum.

Surface treatment and sterility

How the supplies are specified

  • Tissue-culture treated surfaces promote reliable adherent cell attachment; non-treated options are available where attachment is not wanted
  • Transwell inserts in polycarbonate and polyester membranes, pore sizes 0.4 to 8.0 micron
  • Culture flasks in standard surface areas, T-25, T-75, T-175, and T-225
  • Sterile consumables, individually or rack packaged to reduce contamination risk
  • Media and buffers from Corning, an established cell-culture reagent manufacturer
  • Same-day shipping on orders placed before 2 PM PT, with case pricing for institutional buyers

Glass-bottom plates and dishes support high-resolution imaging, and low-evaporation EDGE plates reduce edge-well evaporation on long runs.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between TC-treated and non-treated surfaces?

Tissue-culture treated surfaces are modified to be hydrophilic, which promotes reliable attachment and spreading of adherent cells. Non-treated surfaces are used for suspension cells or for assays where you do not want cells to attach to the vessel.

Should I use a polycarbonate or polyester Transwell membrane?

Polycarbonate membranes are opaque and suited to general assay work. Polyester membranes are more translucent, which makes them better for imaging cells directly on the membrane. Pore size, from 0.4 to 8.0 micron, is chosen by application: smaller pores for barrier and co-culture models, larger pores for migration and invasion assays.

When do I need a baffled Erlenmeyer flask?

Baffled flasks have indentations that increase turbulence and oxygen transfer, which benefits suspension cultures that need stronger aeration. Standard, unbaffled flasks are used when gentler mixing is preferred.

Do you carry the media to go with these supplies?

Yes. The collection includes Corning RPMI 1640 medium and PBS and HBSS buffers. Pair them with fetal bovine serum for complete media preparation.
